HOME SECURITY USING A SHOTGUN
This is an eight hour class with a classroom Power Point presentation covering the following:
1. Shotgun Safety
2. Selecting a shotgun for self defense
3. Shotgun Ammunition
4. Shotgun Shooting Fundamentals
5. Shotgun Self Defense Inside the Home
The Range exercises will consist of Dry Practice and Live Practice drills. To fully participate in these drills, students are expected bring all of the items listed below:
1. Semi-automatic or Pump Shotgun with standard or tactical configuration butt stock and a 2 point sling. Pistol grips are acceptable. However, Shockwave style (pistol grip only, no stock) are not acceptable.
2. 12 or 20 gauge model with 2 ¾” chambers or longer
3. Ammunition (NO MAGNUM ROUNDS)
- 2 boxes of 12 gauge 00 buckshot or 20 gauge 000 buckshot (10 rounds total)
- 2 boxes of birdshot, #7 ½ or #8, 7/8 ounce (50 rounds total)
- 2 boxes of slugs 2 ¾”, 1 ounce (10 rounds total)
4. Shell carrier (10 rounds or more) either on the belt or the shotgun
5. 6 Dummy rounds
6. Handgun with strong side hip holster and 100 rounds of ammunition
7. Lunch
8. No Specialty Muzzle Accessories, i.e. Door Buster, permitted
9. Eye and Ear Protection
