 NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION IN THE HOME - Instructor

Pre-requisites for this class as required by the NRA are:

• Successful completion of the NRA Basic Instructor Training course,
• NRA  Personal Protection Inside the Home Student class,
• Be an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor.

This  is an advanced defensive shooting NRA course which requires that you are a certified NRA Basic Handgun Instructor before taking this class. You are also required to take the Personal Protection in the Home Student class before taking the instructor class. Therefore, you will need to provide proof of NRA Basic Handgun Instructor certification when applying for this class.

The subjects covered in this class include:

1. Safely using a firearm responsibly and ethically while defending your home.

2. You will learn the proper mindset, awareness, mental and physical training you will need to use when facing a life-threatening encounter in your home.

3. The legal requirements set forth by the state and countries are taught by an active local prosecutor.

4. Range drills begin with the fundamentals of handgun shooting and the continue to self-defense drills including the use of cover.

5. Explanation of the strategies involved in defending your home including developing a safe room and how to use it. Shooting aftermath requirements are included such as calling the police and more.

6. Types of pistols and ammunition to use is taught.

7. Finally, methods and precautions for dry-fire practice is covered and also, suggestions on activities to enhance your shooting skills.

This is an 9 hour class includes range time so be sure to bring:

• A lunch
• Handgun and 100 rounds of ammunition
• Eye and Ear Protection
• Ball cap recommended
